Once again, the Aegean Pro Am Competition was the golfing event of
the year. This year it was organized at the new golf course, Costa
Navarino, which was very successfully inaugurated in Kalamata, on the
mainland, in June, with an impressive attendance by players from the
Crete Golf Course in Hersonissos, where it was held for its first three
years. Pro Am is a golf competition where each team is made up by one
professional and three amateur players. At the same time, besides the
team competition, players also compete individually, with each one in
his athletic category, professional and amateur.

a Dutch company for the creation of the world’s first golf course that will
float together with a conference centre and hotel. All three will be found
on a platform in the Indian Ocean. Mahmoud Razi, civil aviation minister for the Maldives
explained that “we need this new approach because of the climatic change and
the erosion of the grounds in our islands.” The highest point in the Maldives is just two metres

Golfer Lee Westwood has admitted his ambition to one day captain the Europe
Ryder Cup team. The world number
three is the top ranked European and is set to be one of Captain Colin
Montgomerie's mainstays in the 2010 edition at Celtic Manor.
"I'd love to be captain one day,”
said. “It's a massive honour and very few people get to do it. Hopefully
I'll get the chance." But he added
that the captaincy is still "quite a long way down the road". The 2010 Ryder
