THE ROVING REPORTER'S QUESTION OF THE MONTH:
"WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO GO IN CRETE
WHEN YOU HAVE SOME TIME OFF?"

PATRICK VERSCHUEREN, Belgium (Gournes): "There are many nice places in Crete to get away from the stress of work and everyday life, but for me, the bathroom (toilet) is the best of all. For one thing it's always nearby, takes only a minute to get there, and is usually very satisfying. Then I can relax, and find the peace and quiet that I need. Also, it's very educational. It's my personal library, the place that I can read and enjoy all the great books that I love – everything from history to computer sciences.

JOHANNA PERALA, Finland (Kokkini Hani): On my days off from work I usually go nearby to the big beach next to the Arina Sand Hotel right here in Kokkini Hani, because it's nearby and has a nice atmosphere. In the summer there are always many young people around, and the sand is nice and smooth. In the winter, it is still lovely – a quiet place to relax and unwind while gazing at the sea. Other times, I like to go to Iraklion to do some shopping, perhaps at the Saturday market, or to just sit with a cup coffee and watch the people.

MIKE KARAOKE, Germany (Kokkini Hani): When I want to get away from all the noise of the night clubs where I work, I like to go to Crissi Island, which is also called Golden Island, near Ierapetra on the south side of Crete. And why? Because it's very beautiful place, with water that is very clean. It has a lovely beach with a lot of clams. I make sure I go there at least once or twice every year."
