NEW PARTNER WELCOMED
AT WUIBY'S RESTAURANT
By Patrick Van Osch

After more than 10 years as one of Kokkini Hani's premier fast-food restaurants and bars under the management of Johan van Boekhoven, the popular establishment will kick off the 2006 season with a new partnership team.

The new co-owner is Patrick Lieftink of Den Helder, Holland, and his wife, Natasja. Patrick, 33, worked on Schiphol Airport in his native country, but always wanted to get into the catering business.

"I see this as a great opportunity," Patrick told The Ko-Go Khronicles. "We've always loved Crete, and now we're here with a new home and a new business. We're very excited."

"While we don't plan many immediate changes in Wuiby's," Johan said, "the addition of Patrick, and his wife, brings a new energy to the restaurant. We're looking forward to an exciting and rewarding relationship."
Since taking over the ownership of Wuiby's in 1996, Johan, assisted by his wife, Jill, has been specializing in Dutch food, while, at the same time, offering an authentic selection of Greek classics, such as gyros and souvlaki. Johan, until now, has been the main chef. However, following a brief introduction period, Patrick will share cooking duties, also.
With the guys in the kitchen, the wives, Jill and Natasja, will be responsible for all customer relations, and over-all improvements to the restaurant.

Patrick and Natasja, along with their children, Jamie, Kelly and Coen, have found a home in Kokkini Hani, not far from Wuiby's, and are expected to be joined by other family members soon. Natasja's parents, currently crewing their own sailboat from Slovenia, are heading for the shores of Crete, a trip of 850 miles, and plan to live here as well. Thanks to the new partnership, Johan said he will now have more time to develop his new venture, the MJ-Real Estate Company (www.mj-realestate.com) with offices directly across the street from Wuiby's, at the Marilisa Apartments.
