  The Greek Government is distributing, through local municipalities, a brochure and CD-ROM with information on how immigrants can become citizens. Hover, the applications requirements remain the same – only the distribution of the information is updated.

Acquiring Greek status is still a very long and costly process. The non-refundable fee of 1,470 euros is the highest application fee for citizenship through naturalization in the EU, and applications usually take several years to be reviewed.

To be eligible, immigrants must prove a total of 10 years' legal residence in Greece in the 12 years preceding the date of their application. The must also be over 18 and they must not have a criminal record or deportation order issued against them. The children of immigrants born in Greece may apply for citizenship on their 18th birthday.
